When Victoria Favors first reached out to H.O.P.E. Inc. in 2020, she wasn't eligible for assistance. As a single mother raising three children one daughter and two sons, she was enrolled in college part-time, falling just short of the program's eligibility requirements. For many, that might have been the end of the story. For Victoria, it was only the beginning. 

Determined to create a different future for her family, she refused to give up. She returned the following year after enrolling full-time at Atlanta Technical College, where she pursued a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services before later transitioning into nursing. Carrying the weight of motherhood, financial hardship, and an unwavering desire to build a better life for her children, Victoria entered H.O.P.E.'s program ready to fight for a future that once seemed impossible. 

Victoria has spent much of her life putting others before herself. Born weighing just two pounds, she understood from an early age how precious life truly is. That experience planted a dream that would stay with her for years with the desire to become a nurse and care for people during their most vulnerable moments. In 2018, she enrolled at Atlanta Technical College with every intention of changing the trajectory of her family's future. But dreams often come with sacrifices.To continue her education, Victoria made the difficult decision to leave the security of full-time employment and accept part-time work that better accommodated her class schedule. She braided hair to earn extra income, relied on food stamps, and stretched every dollar she received. At one point, her monthly take-home pay was only about $950, yet she was still responsible for raising three children while paying student loan debt and other household expenses. 

She briefly worked as a Police Ambassador before accepting a position as a phlebotomist. Throughout every career change, one thing remained constant she never stopped searching for employment that would allow her to continue pursuing her education. Then life became even heavier. As Victoria worked tirelessly toward her degree, her mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Suddenly, she wasn't just a student or a single parent. She became a caregiver.Every day demanded more than she thought she had to give. She attended classes, studied late into the night, cared for three children, supported her mother through cancer treatments, and continued searching for ways to provide financially for her household. Exhaustion became routine, yet quitting was never an option because too much depended on her perseverance. 

She carried the emotional weight of anxiety that came from trying to be everything for everyone. She worried constantly about paying bills while balancing clinicals, coursework, work responsibilities, and motherhood. Then COVID-19 pandemic intensified those struggles. Although she secured employment with Wellstar and picked up overtime whenever possible, financial stability still felt just out of reach. Every paycheck disappeared almost as quickly as it arrived. Unexpected setbacks continued to arise. 

Reliable transportation became a concern. Household expenses are mounted. Every decision became a choice between one necessity and another. Yet despite every obstacle, Victoria never stopped moving forward. She remained persistent in searching for employment that would offer the flexibility she needed to complete nursing school while continuing to care for her family. She understood that earning her degree wasn't simply about personal achievement; it represented a lifetime of opportunity for her children. During one of the most overwhelming seasons of her life, Victoria learned about H.O.P.E. Inc.What she found wasn't simply financial assistance. She found people who believed her future was worth investing in. 

From the moment Victoria entered the H.O.P.E. program, she no longer had to carry every burden alone. Over the course of her educational journey, H.O.P.E. Inc. invested more than $30,500 in helping Victoria remain focused on earning her nursing degree while providing stability for her family during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives. Through the program, Victoria received $22,686.00 in Rent Assistance, ensuring her family always had a safe place to call home and allowing her to remain enrolled in school without the constant fear of losing housing. In Childcare Assistance $2,578.25, giving her peace of mind knowing her children were cared for while she attended classes, completed clinical rotations, studied for exams, and worked. Hope also supplied $2,850.00 in Grocery Assistance, helping place food on the table for months when every dollar had already been spoken for. Once there was a need for reliable transportation, $900.00 in Transportation Assistance was provided, allowing her to travel to school, work, and clinicals without worrying whether she could afford gas. Lastly, $626.09 in Utility Assistance, ensuring her family could keep the lights on during a particularly difficult financial season and $931.32 in Emergency Household Assistance. This help met unexpected family needs that could have otherwise derailed her educational journey. 

Recognizing that success requires more than financial support alone, H.O.P.E. also connected Victoria with mental health counseling and budget coaching, providing her with the emotional support needed and financial guidance  to navigate anxiety while balancing school, work, bills motherhood, caregiving, and financial hardship. Every rent payment represented another month she could stay enrolled.Every childcare payment represented another day she could attend class instead of worrying about who would watch her children.Every grocery card meant dinner was on the table.Every gallon of gas meant she could continue driving toward the future she refused to give up on.The support Victoria received wasn't simply about paying bills. 

It was about protecting a dream. 

The woman who entered H.O.P.E. is not the same woman who graduated. By the end of the program, Victoria had increased her GPA from 2.7 to 3.2, demonstrating the perseverance and determination that carried her through years of sacrifice. Her annual income more than doubled, increasing from $20,000 to $48,000, and for the first time she was able to grow her personal savings from just $50 to $500. In 2026, Victoria proudly graduated, accomplishing the goal she had spent years fighting to achieve. 

Today, she stands ready to begin a career dedicated to caring for others about the very calling inspired by her own story of survival. But perhaps the greatest victory cannot be measured by numbers. Her children witnessed what resilience looks like. They watched their mother refuse to surrender when life became overwhelming. They watched her choose hope over hardship, perseverance over defeat, and education over circumstance. 

Because someone chose to invest in Victoria, an entire family's future has been rewritten.
