Lilian, a 37-year-old mother of two children (ages 12 and 7), is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Chamberlain University, with an expected graduation in December 2025. While working as a Care Manager for RPM Logix at $23 per hour, Lilian needed financial and practical support to manage tuition increases, medical bills, and household expenses while balancing her education and family responsibilities.

Background

Originally from India, Lilian moved to the U.S. at age 16. She married at 21 and moved across Texas, Kansas, and finally Georgia, before divorcing in 2019. The father of her children is intermittently involved, and she does not pursue child support to avoid additional stress. Lilian underwent surgery, experienced tuition increases, and cared for her father after his stroke, adding strain to an already busy and challenging life. Despite these challenges, she is committed to her nursing degree and hopes to enter a surgical residency after graduation.

Client Situation

Before H.O.P.E., Lilian struggled with balancing work, school, and family obligations. Rising tuition, medical expenses, and day-to-day living costs made it difficult to maintain focus on her studies and provide stability for her children. Without intervention, she risked delaying her education and career goals.

Action

H.O.P.E. provided Lilian with comprehensive financial support, ensuring she could continue her studies and care for her family without added stress. She received over $2,400 in rent assistance, helping secure stable housing for her family; $350 for food and groceries$200 for transportation, and additional support totaling hundreds of dollars for essential items like Amazon supplies. This financial assistance allowed Lilian to focus on her academic and career goals, maintain stability for her children, and invest in her future as a nurse. Each contribution directly impacted her ability to stay enrolled in school, manage unexpected expenses, and pursue her dream of working in surgery, while keeping her family cared for and safe.
